Genuine Porsche 986 987 Boxster Cayman 996 997 (incl Turbo GT2 GT3) fuel filler petrol cap.

These Gas and Gasoline fuel filler lids form part of your annual vehicle inspection and a damaged or badly sealing filler cap can result in fuel vapours and liquid petroleum escaping. This utlimately effects your overall vehicle emissions and potentially makes your Porsche unroadworthy.

NO specialist tools are required to fit this part. It's easy and straight forward to install. Just make sure there are no naked flames or sources of ignition nearby!

Easy to fit

The part was delivered by post. It was easy to fit. You need to push the small pin through the fixing plug - remember to cover the water drain hole so that it doesn’t fall in it! Remove old bits and clean as necessary. Put the fixing plug just into the square hole and offer up to the fixing hole in the bodywork, then push through and insert the pin. About 5 minutes in total.

Fuel filler cap replacement

Yes, the installation is straightforward provided you appreciate how to release the plug that secures the plastic "cord" to the car body. This is one with a central pin that, because of the confined space, needs to be pushed into and through the plug with a small diameter rod (which is NOT sharp or the pin will be damaged). Extract the pin from the underside to unlock the plug, which will then readily be prised out. Refitting obviously requires the pin to be pushed in so it's roughly flush with the dome of the plug.
